CME Group is a South Australian family owned & operated company that provides integrated electrical & energy solutions to the Construction, Energy, Commercial, Infrastructure, Domestic and Sports Lighting sectors. The company was established in 1985 by the Mattner family under its original name WM Electrical.
The year 2000 marked a significant year in the history of the family business as the second generation (Chris) commenced his role in the family business as an apprentice electrician.
In 2012 Chris took over the family business, rebranding it to CM Electrical Solutions. The focus was on sustainable growth & building up a reputable business & brand in the South Australian electrical industry based on Integrity, Professionalism & Quality.
In 2014 a strategic decision was made to separate the Sports Lighting side of the business for the general electrical business (CM Electrical Solutions), thus creation of the CME Sports Lighting division. Our Sports Lighting team is recognised nationally for many high profile projects, making CME a company of choice for national sporting associations (Cricket Australia, Tennis Australia, etc.)
In 2015 we established CME Energy division based on the innovation & growth of the renewable energy industry & our strength in electrical infrastructure works. Our energy division is one of our fastest growing divisions. CME is recognised as South Australia’s leading large scale rooftop solar PV installation company.
In 2017 a strategic decision was made to establish a dedicated service division CME Service to capture opportunities within the health, education, real estate & facilities markets.
Chris Mattner was born into the South Australian electrical industry with the family electrical business.
Chris commenced his apprenticeship in 2000 when the family business had 5 employees. Completing his apprenticeship in 2004 and going on to complete executive studies at both the University of Adelaide & UNISA including a Diploma of Business Management.
Chris strove to excel at his skills & knowledge through commercial projects, then into supervisor & management roles, at this stage the business had grown to 25 employees.
In 2012 the family business faced some challenges, Chris knew that this was his time to stand up & lead from the front. The family business then transitioned into the second generation.
Chris has also sat on the NECA SA/NT Board for two & a half years giving his time back to the industry.
A brief word from Chris:
I’m passionate about driving business, culture & opportunities. I have been fortunate to be raised by a working class family that drilled into me work ethic, integrity, honesty, loyalty & relentless dedication.
I’m also very passionate about the electrical industry & supporting the next generation of both male & female electricians. There is no better feeling as an employer than when you provide a career pathway to a young individual & sign them up as an electrical apprentice.
